Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Congratulations Class of ‘23! As you’ve wrapped up final exams, you can now proudly say you’ve graduated from the IB curriculum. That itself is something worth celebrating. Graduation marks the day you are finished with high school. The memories, achievements, and relationships you’ve made these past four years will always be a part of who you are and who you will become. As much as this is the end of a long journey, it also begins a new chapter in your life: one filled with stories of new discoveries, infinite possibilities, and triumphs. SFS will always be rooting for each and every one of you. We are proud to watch you embark on your new adventures and wish you the best of luck no matter where you are in this world.
As you start to pave a new path, it is easy to forget where you came from and your journey to this destination. Just like any of us, each student in the Class of 2023 were once young kids with the dreams of becoming presidents, Hollywood superstars, superheroes, and billionaires. Although we have no doubt that you could reach these dreams, it is also exciting to see how your future plans changed over time.
Teah Smith states she “really wanted to be a hairdresser” in primary school. But now as she is graduating high school she plans on working in “international affairs and humanitarian work”.
Teah Then and Now!
Although she did realize she “was pretty bad at giving haircuts”, high school has changed the passions and interests she wishes to pursue. Many other seniors are expected to have similar experiences with Teah. This transition of changing dreams and pursuits are just part of the magic of growing up.
Like this, make sure to think of the little girls and boys you are making proud of today as you throw your graduation cap in the air. What your little self was wearing, doing—how they would react to you today. I know that they would be amazed. Curious. Eager. They would look up at you with bright eyes of wonder and innocence.
Seniors as you leave SFS, remember to keep making your younger self proud just like you’ve always been. Celebrate every step you take, and chase your dreams with an unwavering heart. The world is waiting for you to engrave your indelible mark. Congratulations and we wish you the best Class of ‘23!
