Five Guys Come to Korea
Justin Whang | December 12, 2022
The long wait is finally over! Five Guys will open its first restaurant in Korea early next year. An opening date is not yet set, but we can now get ready to devour their whole menu!
With the slogan "Always fresh, never frozen," Five Guys is an adored burger franchise in the United States. They are famous for their hand- formed patties, thick-cut fries, and unlimited savory peanuts.
Korean conglomerate Hanwha partnered with the franchise to bring Five Guys to Korea and operate. The first branch will open at the Galleria Department Store located in the affluent Ap- gujeong neighborhood in Seoul. Similar to when Shake Shack Burger was first introduced to Korea in 2016, the opening is expected to create substantial hype and long lines as eager Koreans experience Five Guys' household burgers.
Five Guys began in 1986 when Jerry and Janie Murrell gave their four young sons sage advice, "Start a business or go to college." The Murrell boys chose the former and opened a carry-out burger joint in Arlington, Virginia. Under the guidance of their parents, the family business only offered freshly cut fries, fried in peanut oil, and hand-formed burgers, cooked to perfection on a grill. Thirty years after its first launch, Five Guys now has around 1,700 locations worldwide and another 1.500 under construction. Their celebrated burgers have attracted a cult-like following all over the world. The Five Guys fanatics in Korea need to wait no more.
For all the people who haven't tried Five Guys, this is a MUST opportunity to try out their phenomenal burgers. You cannot go wrong, so be sure to check to see further updates on this exciting news and visit when they open!
