When you think about all the teachers at SFHS, at some point you’re going to think about Mr. Boeri. It’s practically impossible not to come across the chillest math teacher and wonder how it all started. Well, here it is, what you’ve all been waiting for... everything you need to know about Mr. Valentino Boeri!
Born in Italy (near Venice), raised in Alanta (not a typo), and a veteran of military school, Mr. Boeri is a high school MYP & DP math teacher who can chat with anyone about anything.
If you ever decide to strike up a conversation but don’t know what to ask, here are a few intriguing facts to start off with—you just need to fight off some senior math students to find out more in person!
Born: September 11, 1986 (age 37), Italy
Full name: Valentino Boeri Children: Luca 이안 Boeri, Teddy Boeri Nationality: Italian Siblings: 3 sisters, 1 brother
Mr. Boeri's favorite food is bread, specifically focaccia. He mentions how he could "eat bread everyday with a little bit of olive oil and salt (not garlic)." If you ever run into the problem of having too much focaccia on your hands, you now know who can help.
First, why does Mr. Boeri teach math?
"It has an answer." Short but straight to the point. He also states that his favorite aspect of teaching is that everyday is unique.
Does Mr. Boeri really prefer his dog over his son? To this, he replies with nervous laughter and simply says "no comment."
After all, his son could be reading this issue someday, once he learns how to read. But because this wouldn't be an exciting article without his honest opinion, I asked for a brief description of his "children." Teddy, a female Terrier with fluffy blackish brown fur from Jeju Island, is around 3-4 years old. His students regard Teddy as "VERY fluffy" and cannot wait for the arrival of Teddy's appearance in the SFHS community one day.
When describing his son Luca, he shares that he wanted to name his son after Luke Skywalker but his wife disagreed with a definite "Nope". Instead, they came to the consensus of naming their child Luca, an Italian name, not the Disney sea creature friendship movie, His senior students Grace An and Lance Jones describe Luca as "diaper-box-cover worthy" because of his huge eyes and killer smile. Mr. Boeri then casually flexed about his son being within the 'top 1%' of baby models.
What is Mr. Boeri’s pet peeve? Surprisingly, formal emails are Mr. Boeri’s biggest pet peeve. So if you ever want to reach out to Mr. Boeri, don't be afraid to say "Yo teach, when's the next test?" This suggestion is in fact from Mr. Boeri himself.
What is Mr. Boeri’s greatest accomplishment? An outstanding platinum ranking in League of Legends and a cross country time of 19:20 when he was a high school student.
What does Mr. Boeri do during his free time? He doesn’t have free time. He needs to take care of his son Luca.
What is Mr. Boeri’s favorite holiday? The answer is only Halloween because of free candy. Everything else, Mr. Boeri hates it.
Now that you know some things about Mr. Boeri you may have not known, don't be shy to ask him questions. Maybe ask about his favorite movie Star Wars. Oh, and don’t be scared by his straight face... it’s also his happy face.
